June 13, 1926March 8, 2020 – (age 93)

Wayne Elvin Williams was born June 13, 1926 to Mary Elizabeth and Samuel Williams in Samaria, Idaho. He passed away at his home March 8, 2020 after a long and fruitful life.

Wayne was the second of seven children. He had one older brother and five younger brothers and sisters. Verlin, his older brother, was killed in WWII and his little brother, Burt, died when he was just 5 years old. Times were tough and Wayne worked hard all his life. He was a big help to his parents in raising his younger siblings.

Wayne enlisted in the army at age 17. Verlin and Don, two of his brothers, were called to serve their country in WWII in 1941. Wayne was stationed in the Philippines and Okinawa. He has always been proud to have served and has been a good example of patriotism with his over 70 years of Legion activity.

When Wayne returned home from overseas, he married his sweetheart, Ida Kathleen Daniels (Kay). They had four wonderful children, Shelia W. Hawkins, Verlin Wayne Williams, Pamla Elizabeth Davidson, and Brad Daniel Williams. Wayne and Kay spent 65 years together until her passing in 2011.

Wayne worked many jobs such as a telephone lineman, Hess Pumice, Hess construction, farming and ranching, Lucky Lager distributor and other numerous jobs such as plumbing, painting and carpentry. Truly a “Wayne” of all trades. Some construction jobs took the family to Star, Fairfield, and Caldwell, Idaho.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers (Verlin, Burt, & Don), 1 sister (Dixie) and his wife Kay. He is survived by his brother, Tom (Joann) Williams, his sister, Elda Mae Price, his four children Shelia Hawkins, Verlin (Annette) Williams, Pam (Ron) Davidson, and Brad (Kathy) Williams, his eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to Brittney Hubbard and the Signature Health Care nurses for providing help and support to both Wayne and his family.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 – 11:45am on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 West 300 North, Malad, Idaho with funeral services following at 12:00 noon. Wayne will be buried at the Samaria Cemetery immediately following.
