LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women’s basketball (7-22, 2-16 Mountain West) lost, 54-52, to New Mexico (15-16, 6-12 MW) on Thursday night inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Prior to the game, Utah State honored its three seniors, Marlene Aniambossou, Hailey Bassett and Lindsey Jensen-Baker, as a part of Senior Night festivities.

USU recorded a season-high 54 rebounds with three different Aggies collecting double-figure rebounds as Bassett had a career-high 14 boards, while Jensen-Baker and redshirt sophomore guard/forward Taylor Franson also recorded career highs with 12 rebounds each. It is the first time since the 2013-14 season that three Aggies have recorded double-figure rebounds in the same game.

Bassett also led the Aggies in scoring with 13 points, marking her fifth double-double of the season and 10th in her career. Sophomore guard Steph Gorman also scored in double figures with 12 points.

New Mexico was led by senior forward Jordan Hosey with 15 points.

USU shot 27.3 percent (18-of-66) from the field, 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from behind the arc and 68.8 percent (11-of-16) at the free throw line. UNM shot 30.6 percent (19-of-62) from the floor, 23.1 percent (6-of-26) from behind the 3-point line and 83.3 percent (10-of-12) at the free throw line.

Utah State will next compete in the 2020 Air Force Reserve Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championship in Las Vegas, Nev. The Aggies will enter the tournament as the No. 11 seed and will take on No. 6 San Diego State (14-16, 9-9 MW) on Sunday, March 1, at 8 p.m. (MT), inside the Thomas & Mack Center. If USU wins the contest, the Aggies will move on to face No. 3 Wyoming (16-11, 12-6 MW) on Monday, March 2, at 9:30 p.m. (MT).
