Logan Postmaster Katie Evertsen said carriers are delivering packages on Saturday and Sunday during the month of December. She said the Salt Lake processing center is expecting to deliver four to five million packages this holiday season.
LOGAN – The Post Office is operating at their holiday hours and delivering packages on Saturday and Sunday during the month of December.
Logan Postmaster Katie Evertsen said the mail carriers are working extended hours on Saturday and Sunday, delivering parcels from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days week.
“Carriers will be working in the dark, early in the morning and late in the evening,” Eversten said. “We would love it if people would keep their walks and mail boxes clear from ice, snow and other obstructions and watch out for them.”
The Logan Post Office staggered their workers’ schedules and they are still working six days a week
“Safety is the number one priority and we expect them to be able to see while they are delivering packages,” she said. “If they are too big for the mailboxes we will bring them to the door step.”
“We are also offering a parcel pick-up service on Sundays on December 8, 15, 22 and 29,” Everton said. “The Logan Post Office will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday for parcel drop off.”
The Post Office is located at 75 West 200 North and people who leave parcels on Sunday can use an automated system in the lobby. Packages would be dropped off and go out the same day if the postage has been paid for in advanced and attached to the package.
“We are busy this time of year, we have trucks going and coming all day,” Everton said. “Even though carriers are working long hours, they love this time of year.”
All postal employees, including carriers, must comply with the Ethical Conduct for Employees of the Executive Branch.
Under these federal regulations, carriers are permitted to accept a gift worth $20 or less (including store, restaurant or mall gift cards).
