PROVIDENCE – Providence City is beginning a new holiday tradition. Starting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 5th, the city will have a tree lighting ceremony on the roundabout located at 100 North Gateway Drive.

Santa will be there from 5:30 to 6:30, Vocal Stepz, a local youth singing group, will sing Christmas carols from 6:30 to 7, and the lighting of the tree will take place at 7 p.m. Donuts, cookies and hot chocolate will be available for free at the ceremony.

Ornaments for the tree will be available for purchase at the city office located at 164 N. Gateway Dr. from now till December 5th at 5 p.m. for a suggested donation of $15. All ornament sale proceeds will go directly to The Family Place. Ornaments may be hung between 5:30-7 p.m. during the tree lighting ceremony.

If you would like to purchase ornaments after December 5th, the city will continue to make them available until December 13th.
