Representative Rob Bishop will be leaving his congressional seat in District 1 and another candidate has emerged to replace him  Tina Cannon was a guest on KVNU’s For the People program on Monday and was asked why she decided to run.

This is my home, I have spent 52 years in the first congressional district, I grew up in Box Elder County.  Went to Utah State, so I spent time in Cache(County), and then along the Wasatch Front, where my husband and I have raised our four children,” she said.

Cannon is a tax accountant by trade and describes herself as a staunch fiscal conservative.   She said she is passionate about budgeting and sticking to an actual budget and that process.  She said tax reform is something that will resurface and feels  her understanding of taxes and how they’re applied would be a great asset to her district.    Cannon said she will be visiting Cache Valley this week.

“So we’ll be up in Cache County again this Wednesday, and gathering signatures.  This is a great opportunity for people as we canvass.  We’ve used this as a canvassing tool to get out and meet people personally.  But they can contact me through my website.”

That website is www.tinacannon.com.  You can hear her entire interview below.
