LOGAN – Region 11 boys basketball teams only played one game last week as the second half of region play got underway, and Sky View continued to assert its dominance over the region. The Bobcats (15-2) crushed Bear River (11-7) in Smithfield 89-57. Sky View, the number one team in the state, has won every region game by double digits so far. In fact, the average margin of victory for Sky View in Region 11 games is 26 points, with four blowouts by 32 points or more.
Ridgeline, meanwhile, is moving up in the rankings and is now ranked 3rd in the latest RPI rankings issued by the Utah High School Activities Association. The Riverwhawks (12-6) defeated Green Canyon (9-9) 62-40 on Friday. Ridgeline’s only loss in Region 11 was a 79-68 loss at Sky View, the closest any region team has been able to get against the Bobcats. Ridgeline hosts Sky View on Friday.
The other game Friday featured the bottom third of Region 11 with Logan (7-11) defeating Mountain Crest 60-47. The Mustangs (1-16) have struggled to find any kind of offensive consistency in region play. Outside of a nine point loss at home against Bear River, the Mustangs have lost by an average margin of 18.67 points in region play. Even though Logan has a better region record than both Bear River and Green Canyon, the RPI rankings favor the Bears and the Wolves for their overall records.

Region 11 Girls Basketball
In girls basketball, Ridgeline (14-4) is on top with a perfect 6-0 record. The Riverhawks are currently ranked 2nd in the latest RPI standings after two victories last week over Logan (64-45) and Green Canyon (61-50).
With the loss to Ridgeline, Green Canyon falls to 13-4 on the season and 4-2 in region play. The Wolves defeated Bear River (7-11) earlier in the week and remain the #4 team in RPI. Logan (12-5) is also 4-2 in region play and currently ranked 6th in the state after losing to Ridgeline then defeating Mountain Crest 44-37. Much like their male counterparts, the Mustangs (6-12) are without a win in Region 11 this season. But unlike the boys team, the girls are ranked 14th in the state.
The Sky View Bobcats (8-10) helped their cause last week by picking up two victories, 46-42 over Mountain Crest and 58-46 over Bear River, improving their region record to 3-3.
