Albuquerque, N.M. – Utah State’s men and women’s track and field teams set two school records and collected 14 top-five finishes while competing in three meets held in New Mexico, Washington and Idaho over the weekend.

Leading the Aggie women was senior Sam Nielson who won the triple jump with a school-record leap of 12.89m (42-03.50), while the Aggie men’s 4x400m relay team (freshman Clay Lambourne, junior Tanner Hunt, junior Cole Lambourne and junior Parker Bluth) broke the school-record for the third time this season with a time of 3:08.99, good enough for a first-place tie in the event.

Other top performances for the Aggie men included senior Tom Derr winning the 5,000m with a time of 15:05.89, while junior Clay Lambourne placed first in the 800m (1:52.46). Junior Cole Lambourne finished second in the 400m (47.14), with senior Nic Bowens placing third in the 200m (21.07), as well as Parker Bluth finishing closely behind Bowens with a time of 21.15. “We had two new school records in the triple jump and 4x400m relay, I really like seeing that going into conference meets. We just keep giving a solid effort and we’re getting prepared for the conference meet and that’s a good thing for our program,” said USU head coach Gregg Gensel.

The Aggies will take a week off before competing in the 2015 Mountain West Indoor Championships. The championships will be held in Albuquerque, N.M. Feb. 26-28.
