November 13, 1942 ~ February 18, 2020 – (age 77)

Our beloved father and friend returned home with honor to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, February 18, 2020 unexpectedly after a short illness at the age of 77.

Roger was born November 13, 1942 in Afton, Wyoming to Helen and Willard Cranney. He spent his childhood roaming the countryside in Idaho Falls, Idaho having grand adventures. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School and went on to attend Brigham Young University. This is where he met Margaret Turner. They were married September 2, 1972 in Margaret’s hometown of Grand Junction, Colorado. Later they were sealed in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Bountiful Utah temple. Together, they were blessed with four children, Ryan, Courtney (Robbie Jensen), Jason (Elizabeth), and Joshua.

Roger enjoyed his career in the furniture industry for over 40 years. He passed this love onto his children when together they started their family business at The Room Loft in Brigham City, Utah.

Roger loved to get large groups together for some family fun at the bowling alley. In his younger years he raced cars and this lead to his passion for restoring vintage race cars. His favorite car was always his 1987 Lotus. He also had a passion for politics and loved to talk to anyone about current events. Fishing was his favorite source of relaxation.

Roger had a great sense of humor and some famous one liners ready for anyone willing to bite. His heart was full of compassion and he loved to help the underdog succeed. He was determined in all that he undertook.

He is survived by his children, his nine grandchildren and his sister Evelee Rush. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret and his siblings: Kirk Cranney, Elling Cranney and Camille Cranney.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 21, 2020 at 1:00pm at the Brigham City North Stake Center, 620 North 300 East Brigham City, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 11:30am – 12:30pm at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Bountiful Cemetery immediately following.
