WELLSVILLE – Children, Santa Claus and animals, how can it get any better than that?

Santa Clause and his reindeer, Comet and Cupid were on hand for children to see before they make their trip Christmas Eve.

Parents and children were excited to see Santa Clause and his reindeer, Comet and Cupid. There were also horses, cows and a camel at the third annual Reindeer Express, sponsored by Utah State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and the College of Agriculture and Applied Science. The big event was held at the USU Equine Center.

Santa took note of all the children’s Christmas wishes and they got to pose for a quick photo with the jolly old elf.

Local choirs sung holiday music throughout the evening and there were a host of booths offering other holiday activities, such as horse and carriage rides, for families to enjoy.

Reindeer expert, Isaac Bott, a veterinarian in Springville, Utah, and a Utah State University alumnus, brought his reindeer to the event. Bott is the leading authority on reindeer health and made sure they were ready for their Christmas Eve journey.

Hundreds of children attended the Reindeer Express held last Friday at the Utah State Universities Equine Center.

He successfully produced the world’s first female reindeer calf through artificial insemination. The calf’s name, Mira, stood for miracle.

Proceeds from the Reindeer Express admissions support scholarships for students in Utah State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine.

This year participants were bussed from parking lots at ICON Health & Fitness to and from the event.
