LOGAN — Police are investigating the death of an older woman at an apartment building in North Logan. The incident was reported Saturday at 3:15 p.m. in the North Pointe Apartments, 1580 N. 200 E.

According to emergency radio traffic a man called 911 reporting a woman approximately 60-years-old was dead. She reportedly had what first appeared to be a knife wound in her back.

North Park Police Interim Chief Ulysses Black said officers arrived on the scene after receiving the call and attempted CPR. Paramedics continued life-saving efforts when they arrived. All attempts to revive the victim was unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead.

Black explained that the death is being treated as a suspicious. There is no evidence indicating any ongoing threat to the community.

Shortly after arriving on the scene, police began searching for a white male in his 20’s. He was described as having black hair, wearing black clothing and may have had a jacket wrapped around his arm.

Detectives from North Park Police in partnership with Logan City Police Department, Smithfield City Police Department, the Utah State Crime Lab, and the Special Bureau of Investigation are conducting interviews and processing the crime scene. No arrests have been made.

Black said the death is an ongoing investigation and could not release any further details. He expressed appreciation to the other law enforcement agencies for their assistance.
