LOGAN — A 38-year-old man has been arrested and accused of taking pornographic pictures of local children.

Logan City Police arrested William Lawrence Larson Monday at his apartment.

Police Capt. Tyson Budge said officers received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Larson was sharing child pornography over the internet.

Budge said when investigators scanned Larson’s computer they found obvious evidence of child pornography. They also found pictures they believe he had taken of local children.

“It turned out they were from Logan,” said Budge. “We were able to contact them, interview them and talk with their parents. So that is why he booked on the manufacturing of child pornography and procession of child pornography.”

The victims are all under the age of 10 and appear to have known they were being photographed.

Budge said the children are not related to Larson but knew him.

“For some reason or another, he was watching these kids at one time or another,” said Budge. “He wasn’t like a babysitter on a regular basis but they were left in his care at one time.”

Larson was initially arraigned in 1st District Court Thursday. He is being charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, all second-degree felonies and two other misdemeanor charges. He is being held in the Cache County Jail on a $104,580 bail. He is expected again in court on Tuesday.
