LOGAN — A North Logan man, Vance Bowman has pleaded guilty to having sex with a teenager and sending her explicit text messages.
The 30-year-old Bowman waived his right to a preliminary hearing and accepted a plea deal Monday morning in 1st District Court.
Under conditions of the agreement, Bowman pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual conduct, a third-degree felony and dealing in materials harmful to a minor, a class A misdemeanor. Meanwhile, state prosecutors agreed to drop eight additional charges.
The plea deal protects the victim from having to testify against Bowman in a trial.
State attorney Barbara Lachmar said the victim was 17-years-old, 13-years younger than Bowman, when the crimes occurred around July 2015.
Judge Thomas Willmore ordered Bowman to appear again in court February 22 for sentencing.
