February 5, 1928 ~ January 28, 2020 – (age 91)

On January 28, 2020, Naone M. Godfrey passed away peacefully as she joined her Eternal Companion, Kenneth Godfrey, on the other side of the veil. She was eight days short of being 92 years old.

Naone was born February 5, 1928 in Tremonton, Utah a daughter of Veda Barker Mason and Mirl Mason. A lifelong native of Box Elder County, Utah, she was well loved by all who knew her.

Her legacy began at a young age when she attended The Julliard School Conservatory in New York City, New York. She mastered the piano and served in many capacities throughout her life using her music.

At the age of 21, she served an LDS mission in the Paris France Mission where she met Kenneth as he was serving in the Switzerland France Mission. They were wed in the Logan, Utah Temple December 27, 1951. They attended Brigham Young University together where she received her Bachelor Degree in English and minored in French.

Later in life, she served with her companion, as Mission Presidents the Canada Montreal Mission from 1978-1981. She loved all the missionaries and served in many ways, teaching the missionaries about manners, nutrition and ministering to the many members in the area.

For many decades she served as the pianist for the Box Elder Symphonic Choir and gave lifelong service as the organist in her ward. She gave piano lessons to so many in the community.

She had been recorded as the longest standing volunteer at the Brigham City Community Hospital in its history pulling about 8,000 community service hours. She loved to serve others and was an example of this throughout her life.

Naone also loved to go to the temple on a regular basis and serve the Lord. Her greatest calling in life was being a wife and a mother. Grandmother was her favorite title. She is survived by her three sons, Kay, Kevin, and Gary, and her daughter Patricia Ann. Her legacy includes 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 3, 2020 at 11:00am at the Box Elder Stake Center, 420 South 800 West, Brigham City, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:40am at the Church. Interment will be in the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
