Utah State University Facilities has announced the award of $15,610 to four projects on campus addressing safety, multi-modal infrastructure, access, informed choices, clean environment and healthy community. Sustainability Council Coordinator Alexi Lamm said the opportunity was new this year.
“We had up to $25,000 to award to innovative transportation ideas that addressed safety or multi-modal infrastructure,” Lamm said on KVNU’s For the People program, “or ways to inform students of the different options that are available.
“The idea was that we could try to get the ideas out of students, faculty and staff about safe and convenient transportation ideas as well as improving our air quality.”
Lamm said the grants included $3,925 for movable bike racks for events, construction sites and experimental locations, $6,890 for a level two electric vehicle charging station in a student parking lot, $1,480 for purchase and installation of a high security electric bike pump and $3,316 for videos informing students on available transportation options, including the airport shuttle, local bus services, car share and Zimride rideshare
