PROVO (AP) – Mothers in Utah are pushing back against BYU’s ban on children and breastfeeding at its annual Women’s Conference.

School officials say it’s been a longstanding rule that kids and babies aren’t allowed at the two-day college event, scheduled this year to begin on April 30.

Sarai Lambert Pixton is the mother of a 4-month-old boy. She says she wanted to go to the conference, but didn’t feel welcome after seeing the notice that nursing infants cannot be accommodated.

Another mother to a infant, Nataly Wixom-Burdick, says The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints should consider changing the rule.
