A section of Main Street in Brigham City was closed Thursday afternoon when a semi-truck carrying almost 6000 gallons of milk, rolled over, spilling it’s load.

According UDOT the accident occurred about 12:40 p.m.

Witnesses reported the truck was traveling east out of Sardine Canyon, US 89. The truck was driving at a high speed with smoke coming from the brakes.

The light at Main Street was red and traffic was moving north and southbound so the truck driver turned right onto Main in order to avoid the traffic. Because of the high rate of speed though, the truck rolled onto its side.

No other vehicles were involved. The crash blocked traffic on Main Street at 1100 South for a couple hours, while crews cleaned up the milk and investigated the accident.
