Lynn Reed Bates (80) born April 19, 1939, to Floyd & May Bates in Rexburg, Idaho, passed away December 29, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family in Smithfield, Utah.
Lynn worked and retired from USU Space Dynamics Lab (SDL) where he enjoyed working with many great friends and colleagues.
Lynn is preceded in death by his parents, his eternal companion Karen, son Jeffrey, sister Beverly, and brother Elwood. Lynn is survived by his wife Sherrie Daw Bates, Children Jeff’s wife Sabrina Hatch, daughter Julie Curtis, son Jared Bates, daughter Ginger (Jason) Fenton, son Ryan (Alisa) Bates, sister Verna Neff, his 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and his loyal companion Buttons.
Funeral Services, under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary, will be held at the Smithfield North Stake Center, 155 West 400 North, Smithfield. Viewing Friday January 3, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00pm and Saturday 10:30 – 11:30am. Funeral services will be at 12:00 and interment will be at the Smithfield Cemetery.
