SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Logan veterinarian has agreed to pay a civil fine in connection to federal allegations that drugs were improperly handled at a research facility he runs.

KSL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2dtBZ46 ) that Michael Larson has agreed to pay $200,000 and to surrender his Drug Enforcement Agency registration in connection complaints that he violated numerous regulations, including failing to conduct regular inventories and keep accurate records of controlled substances received and dispensed.

In order to keep operating IBEX Pre-Clinical Research, Inc., Larson has agreed to associate with another veterinarian in the area who will order, maintain and administer controlled substances.

The company conducts orthopedic surgical studies on a variety of laboratory animals for pharmaceutical and medical device companies.
