LOGAN — A 41-year-old Logan man, Odilon F. Castulo-Guzman, accused of attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a man during a fight, appeared in again court.

Castulo-Guzman continued his initial appearance in 1st District Court Monday morning. He is charged with attempted murder, a first-degree felony and two charges of obstructing justice, both second-degree felonies.

Deputies report Castulo-Guzman stabbed 51-year-old Ramon Pimienta-Real during a fight in Amalga back on October 14. The victim was taken by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital with a stab wound to the chest.

The altercation was reported around 8:15 p.m. near 2350 West 6550 North at Sugar Park.

Castulo-Guzman was arrested and booked into the Cache County Jail. He was later released after posting $40,000 bail.

During Monday’s court appearance, Judge Thomas Willmore ordered the defendant to appear again in court November 14, to determine if attorneys would request a preliminary hearing.

State attorney Jacob Gordon also asked for the defendant to be taken back into custody saying that Catulo-Guzman is allegedly in the country illegally.

Judge Willmore rejected the request but said the state could file a motion and he would consider it.
