A Logan couple and their pet survived a roaring house fire Tuesday afternoon. Their home sustained heavy heat and smoke damage after its garage erupted in flames. A neighbor saw smoke coming from the garage of the home at 273 West 240 North around 4:20 p.m.
According to Deputy Chief Craig Humphreys of the North Logan Fire Department, when fire officials arrived they found fire coming through the roof above a two car garage. Officers began extinguishing the fire from the outside until it was safe to enter and extinguish the remaining fire.
The home sustained extensive heat and smoke damage throughout all rooms.  Damage to the home is estimated at $100,000. Fire crews continued to stay on scene to control any hot spots throughout the night and will conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire later in the morning.
