It looks like Logan will be sponsoring some community gardens this year. Logan Mayor Craig Petersen told the city council on Tuesday that plans are moving ahead.

“At this point we’ve identified down at Bridger Park about 0.8 of an acre,” Petersen explained. “We thought given the large number of multi-family homes down there that it was a logical place to do that.”

Petersen said the area will take some preparation before the gardening can begin.

“We’ll probably need to do some infrastructure, some fencing to bring in water. Water is available there,” he explained. “We’ve identified the physical spot. We’re talking about 100-120 plots. It would probably be a nominal charge to the citizens.”

The mayor said instead of this being an administrative responsibility, the city will probably put a volunteer committee in charge.
