LOGAN — Deputies have arrested a 51-year-old Lewiston man suspected of burglary and mail theft. Travis Goodwin was booked into the Cache County Jail Thursday.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Doyle Peck said deputies received a report of an individual tampering with mailboxes. Cache County residents had seen the man driving away in a green Jeep Grand Cherokee in the Smithfield city area.

Deputies from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office were able to stop a vehicle matching that description in Richmond and took Goodwin into custody.

Peck explained that upon further investigation, detectives were able to find that Goodwin was a suspect in multiple thefts of mail from mailboxes in Cache County as well as burglarizing at least two storage units in the North Logan city area. Victims in those cases were contacted and were able to identify their property that had been in the suspect’s possession.

Goodwin was booked into jail on multiple misdemeanor and felony counts of burglary and mail tampering.

Investigators are asking residents who suspect that they may have been a victim of mail tampering, to contact law enforcement and file a report.
