November 1, 1942 – November 14, 2019 – (age 77)

Boyd Hyde, 77, of Pocatello, passed away November 14, 2019 at home after a struggle with cancer and heart issues. The first of 9 children, Boyd was born in Fresno, California November 1, 1942 to LaMonte B and Mima Simmonds Hyde. He attended school in Tooele, Utah and Preston, Idaho. Boyd served two years in the Navy, and attended ISU.

As a teen, Boyd worked on farms moving pipe and hauling hay. He worked in the Del Monte factory and was also an airplane mechanic. Boyd was in construction for most of his life running heavy equipment. He lived in Missoula for many years where he had an excavating business that earned him the name, “DIGGER”. He was a long haul truck driver for many years and eventually bought his own Kenworth.

He lived in Paulsbo, Washington for about 30 years before moving back to Idaho 4 years ago, to be closer to family.

He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, and cars. Boyd loved NASCAR, Kasey Kahne was his favorite driver. He was also a Seattle Seahawks fan.  His kitty, Ebony, has been a loving companion to him for 8 years.

Boyd was married to Nadine Larsen and they had 3 daughters. Then to Beverly Smith, they also had 3 daughters, then to Kris Makela. All three marriages ended in divorce.

Boyd is survived by brothers, Reggie, Doug, Bob, Cary (Nancy), David (Ann); sisters, LaRene (Junior) Chambers, Dawn (Kris) Stoddard; daughters, Valerie (Roger) Olsen, Bernadine (Mike) Jones, Trina Whittington, Sheri (James) Keilman, and Mindy Hyde; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jake and Jenelle Olsen; Samantha Matthes and Desiree Hyde; Jessica Hyde, Sam Stone, and Mae Whittington; Kayla Morris and Dominic James; Taylor, Jenna and Brielle Keilman; 8 great-grandchildren; and his kitty, Ebony.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Natalie; and brother, Mike.

As per his wishes, there will be no public services.
