LOGAN – News Talk KVNU spotlighted a class of fifth-grade students at Adams Elementary School in Logan, Tuesday morning. The students were the winning class in the “Owl Olympics,” a monthly program that promotes reading.

The “Owl Olympics” encourages students to read 20 minutes each day. It was created by the school’s Literacy Coach Carla Randall.

Randall said each day in class, the students report on how long they have read. At the end of the week, the students who have read each day participate in the “March of the Champions,” where they parade through the school halls together.

Randall said Sarah Walquist fifth-grade students rocketed to first place during the past month.

Walquist’s students were treated to a donut party and had to chance to participate in the Morning News.
