March 3, 1953 – February 24, 2020 – (age 66)

The adventure began when Kerry Hong Chin was born on March 3, 1953 to Steve Him Chin and Kam Chau Chin in St. Anthony, Idaho.

Within a few years, the family moved to Laramie, Wyoming where Kerry and his siblings grew up. As a boy he loved reading stories out of superhero comic books and being outside, both hobbies he never grew out of.

In his youth, he grew obsessed with working out. He trained in the martial arts, lifted weights and would often run the length of Laramie with his best friend, Calvin for exercise.

A few years after graduating from Laramie High School, Kerry moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he began his career in retail. A talented leader and hard worker, he met countless wonderful people throughout his career that would become a second family to him.

In his young adult life, when Kerry wasn’t working, he was adventuring. Among his favorite things to do were hiking, climbing frozen waterfalls, river running, and other extreme adventures. Kerry would later share his love for adventuring with his three children: Jared, Tiffany, and Ryan.

Kerry passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2020. In addition to his children, he is survived by his siblings, Dick Chin, Tom Chin, Nancy Lui, and his beloved granddaughters Skylar and Kinnley Chin. He will be remembered for his iconic laugh, happy demeanor, and kind character.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Valley Burial Services.
