LOGAN — The body of a 62-year-old Malad, Idaho man was found Thursday morning in Logan Canyon, US 89.

Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Peterson said Burt E. Singleton was found floating in the Logan River by two Utah Highway Patrol troopers.

Oneida County Sheriff’s investigator Leland Ward said Singleton did not return from a photography trip in the Bear Lake and Cache Valley areas Wednesday evening.

Thursday morning, the Oneida County Sheriff’s office contacted Cache County Dispatch and requested assistance locating Singleton. He was driving a white 1998 Suzuki Sidekick with Idaho plates.

UHP Trooper Ben Jensen said he and Cory Thomas were patrolling the canyon and located the missing vehicle, near milepost 472. As they searched the area they found Singleton’s body about 100 yards downstream.

Peterson said there didn’t appear to be any foul play and it is believed that Singleton died from either an accidental drowning or a medical situation.

Singleton’s body was turned over to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
