LOGAN — An 18-year-old Hyrum man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a young girl. Barrett T. Lebow was booked early Christmas morning into the Cache County Jail.

Lebow was arraigned in 1st District Court Thursday morning, appearing by video from jail. He was charged with one count of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.

Cache County Deputy Attorney Aaron Josie told the court that Lebow is suspected of abusing the alleged victim for several years. The girl was an acquaintance of the suspect and the abuse continued until Lebow was arrested.

Lebow asked the court for a public defender. He explained that he hadn’t worked for four months.

Josie requested the court to hold Lebow without bail. He stated that the suspect was a threat to the victim.

Judge Kirk Morgan assigned Lebow an attorney to represent him. He also agreed with prosecutor’s request and ordered Lebow to be held in jail without bail.

Lebow is scheduled to appear again in court December 30. He could face up to 15-years in prison if convicted.
