NORTH LOGAN – A class of entrepreneurial Green Canyon High School students is looking for volunteer help both Friday morning and Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until noon, and again Monday, Dec. 30 from 5-9 p.m. to fill boxes with items for third world countries.
Craig Anhder teaches an entrepreneurship class at Green Canyon and his students are working with Utah State University’s SEED program, plus they need a lot of volunteer help the next few days.
”My entrepreneur class created a plan that would allow us to build a ‘Business in a Box’ package, a box of all of these great items that have a lot of use to them,” Anhder explained. “We would then team up with the SEED organization from Utah State.
“We would send these boxes down to these people that want to be entrepreneurs, and they would have something they could start a business with.”
Anhder said SEED, which stands for Small Enterprise Education and Development, is an international internship opportunity for students of all majors to make an impact in the world by going to Ghana, Peru, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines to help natives start their own business.
”They have been doing this for years now,” Anhder added. “They find people that want to start their own business. They help them write a business plan. And then they help them actually execute that business plan so that these individuals have the highest possible chance of being successful. And they are seeing huge successes and seeing people that can change their lives because of this.”
Anhder said volunteers will pack several items into each box, including clothes, toys and shoes. He said volunteers are invited to bring family and friends, or to come alone to help with a meaningful project during the holidays.
The One Shoe Foundation and the Green Canyon Future Business Leaders of America are packaging the donated items into boxes.
