LOGAN — The first Maker meetup of 2020 for Cache Makers is this Wednesday evening, Feb. 5th, from 7p.m. to 9p.m. at the B.A.T.C. West campus at 1410 North 1000 West in Logan. The Cache Makers 4-H Club involves children as young as Third and Fourth grades in projects like robotics, drones, lego competitions, 3-D printing, graphic design and more. On KVNU’s For the People program last week, Ari Gammon from the organization explained what Sphero the robot is all about.
“I thought the same thing, actually…I had never even heard of one. Sphero is a robot that you can control with..a tablet, an IPAD, or sometimes even your phone if you have the right app for it….it’s like a sphere, and it just goes around on this course and people can compete,” she said.
Gammon says Cache Makers is for anyone at any age.
“We’re family-friendly and..even if someone is working on their science fair project, because ….I think, on February 14th that all the science fairs start up soon. And if somebody really wanted help with their science fair project they could even come to this meeting. It’s a Maker meet-up, it’s all of the makers meeting up together and we’re combining our ideas, sharing ideas and helping inspire other people in their ideas.”
At the Wednesday meeting will be Cami Yuan, a Makers STEM ambassador who will present her radiation pressure power meter that is used to detect the force of all wavelengths. For more information visit the Cache Makers 4-H Club on Facebook or go to CacheMakers.org.
