LOGAN – A head-on collision in Logan Canyon, US 89 has killed one person and injured two others.

Utah Highway Patrol trooper Phil Rawlinson said the accident occurred Monday morning at 10:38 a.m., near the summit of Logan Canyon, mile-post 495.

Becky L. Green, 58, of Garden City was a passenger in a 1994 GMC Sierra that hit a 1990 Chevrolet Suburban head-on. She was not wearing a seat belt.

UHP said the Suburban was traveling north-east toward Garden City, when it came around a curve and encountered drifting snow that covered the roadway. The driver attempted to slow down but lost control and drifted into the on-coming lane where it was hit head-on by the Sierra.

Green was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The drivers of both vehicles were also injured. UHP said Green had a medical condition that made wearing a seat belt difficult.

Weather is believed to have been a factor in the crash. There was blowing wind and drifting snow reported at the time of the accident.
