LOGAN – Four families have been displaced by an apartment fire early Thursday morning. Logan City Fire Marshal Craig Humphreys said the fire was reported at 12:36 a.m. in a four-unit apartment building near 430 West 950 North in Logan.

The fire was reported by one of the apartment’s occupants who called 911 saying they could see flames on the back wall of the building.

Humphreys said fire crews found heavy amounts of fire on the back exterior wall. The fire spread up the wall and into the attic area of the building.

The apartments were home to four families, eight adults and five children. All of the apartment’s occupants had to be evacuated.

Humphreys reported that the building sustained significant damage to the rear and attic in all four apartments. Damage is estimated at $200,000. No damage to other structures was reported.

The Red Cross is assisting with families who were displaced. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
