LOGAN — A former Cache County EMS paramedic has pleaded guilty to recording videos underneath women’s skirts during Summerfest, in June.

Michael Lawler of Trenton appeared in 1st District Court Tuesday morning. His attorney said Lawler had accepted a plea deal with state prosecutors. Under the plea conditions, Lawler pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism, a class A misdemeanor. Eight other charges of voyeurism were dismissed.

State attorney Barbara Lachmar told the court how Lawler was caught filming underneath women’s skirts during Summerfest on the Logan Tabernacle grounds.

Lachmar said Lawler admitted to attaching his cell phone to a long slender piece of cardboard and using the device to record females. Police said he was targeting women in their teens, twenties and early thirties, who were wearing skirts.

Lawler was arrested and booked into the Cache County Jail. He was later released after posting bail.

Cache County EMS Chief Jay Downs said Lawler previously worked for the county as a paramedic. He resigned after being arrested.

Lawler will be sentenced November 4 and could face up to one-year in jail.
