LOGAN — Late Thursday afternoon, news broke through Cache County GOP chair Chris Booth that Cache County Clerk Jill Zollinger is going to retire as of August 31, 2020. In a letter to Booth, Zollinger said that now is the right time for her and her family to retire after 31 years as county clerk/auditor.
On KVNU’s For the People program on Thursday, Booth said though there wouldn’t be time to get a replacement on the ballot in November, the Cache Republican Party will meet in the coming weeks to discuss filing period dates and the process to nominate a replacement for Zollinger.
She said in the letter, “it is hard to leave an office where I have been so fortunate to work with such great people. I appreciate the support of the citizens, and want to thank them and my staff.”
