ABC/Randy Holmes(ITALY) — George Clooney was briefly hospitalized this morning after he was knocked off his scooter in an accident on the island of Sardinia, Italy. 

The 57-year-old star was on his way to a TV series shoot when the driver of a Mercedes cut him off in the providence of Olbia, according to the Italian-language newspaper La Nuova. The motorist called an ambulance for the actor, who complained of pain in his hip, arm and leg.

Shortly after his wife Amal met him at John Paul II hospital, where he was given an MRI, the actor was cleared and discharged, with only some bruises to show for the mishap.

Clooney was on location filming a TV series based on the classic Joseph Heller novel Catch 22. The Oscar winner is directing and producing the project.
