LOGAN – Police say charges are pending against Utah State basketball player, Jarred Shaw.

Sunday night, police responded to a Logan residence on report of a possible sexual assault.

When they arrived, police determined Shaw and two other individuals had been using drugs at the residence. The Cache Rich Drug Task Force was called in to investigate.

Logan City Assistant Police Chief Jeff Curtis said even though assault was the original complaint, those are not the charges pending.

“That was the original call that we got but I don’t know that that’s what it wound up being,” said Curtis. “There are some charges pending. I don’t believe it is for that specific thing.”

Monday, USU announced that Shaw had been suspended from the team indefinitely. On KVNU’s Coaches Show, basketball head coach Stew Morrill said he doesn’t want to predict what will happen to the former leading scorer of the team.

“We’ll let the case take its course,” said Morrill. “We’ll see what happens in terms of the legal part of it and all that, before we get into it too much.

“It’s just unfortunate,” said Morrill. “You know really, really bad choices on his part and he’s going to have to pay the price. Until we see where it all goes, it’s hard to get too much into it.”

Shaw is a 6-foot-10 senior from Dallas, Texas and was leading the Aggies in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots.
