Julie Hollist calls it the Yellowstone Loop. As executive director of the Cache Valley Visitor’s Bureau she says it should be an exciting place for tourists to visit.

Hollist said her counterparts in Rich and Box Elder counties are excited about it as is the Utah Office of Tourism. Hollist described what the Yellowstone Loop means to the Cache County Council on Tuesday.

“Fly into Salt Lake City, whether you’re coming from China or Germany or wherever you’re coming from,” Hollist explained, “fly into Salt Lake City and give them a tour bus there. Come through Northern Utah and stay overnight in Logan.”

Hollist said that is one of the main goals. If the tourists can stay overnight in Logan, not only will the hotels benefit but other local merchants will as well as they dine, shop for souvenirs, etc.

“Then (they) head up through Bear Lake to Jackson, Yellowstone and then come back down. We call that the Yellowstone Loop.”

Hollist said this is a good way to get more involved with bus tours for the local economy. She said the state office has asked her to present the Yellowstone Loop at international tourism meetings taking place in Germany next March and she is pleased about that.
