Cache Coffee and More is providing a free Thanksgiving meal between 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m for anyone who has nowhere else to go on Thanksgiving.

LOGAN – Jamie and Mindie Buttars have been operating their coffee shop for only a few months, but they already feel a sense of gratitude to the community that has helped them in their early going. The owners of Cache Coffee and More are giving back by offering a free Thanksgiving dinner between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday at 970 South US 89/91 Suite 130.

Mindie Buttars sorts donations at Cache Coffee and More in preparation for a free Thanksgiving meal the company will be offering between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

“It first started out for veterans, who didn’t have family or anywhere to go for Thanksgiving, so they would have a place to get together, have dinner, be comfortable and have a place to visit,” Mindie explains. “Then, it kind of blossomed into so much more than that. We realize we can’t keep it just for veterans. We want everyone in the valley who might need a place to go, or they have nowhere to eat dinner. We want them to feel welcome and have a place to eat.”

She says they have been humbled by the community response so far, with donations of food, drinks and time.

“I don’t know that we would have been able to make it happen by ourselves. It’s been really nice to see the community come together.”

Nine turkeys have been donated, others are donating their time to cook and prepare the meals, others are donating their time to serve the meals on Thanksgiving day.

Mindie says there is enough food to feed a small town, but there is no set number of meals they are hoping to serve.

“Even if only two people show up to eat, at least those two people had a place to go. We can always donate the food to other people after that. But as long as even two people, who maybe didn’t have a place to eat dinner have a place to feel welcome, then it’s worth it in our eyes.”

A variety of organizations have been notified of the free Thanksgiving meal, including various veteran organizations, the Cache Community Food Pantry, the Bear River Health Department and North Eastern Services, an organization that helps people with disabilities.
