BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a Box Elder County Jail inmate has died after he was found hanging in the shower area of his cell.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1G83A38) that the man, who was arrested Friday, has been identified as 42-year-old Christopher Witt, of Layton.
According to the sheriff’s office, jail officers had seen Witt 13 minutes before he was discovered hanging in his cell Sunday afternoon.
Deputies performed CPR on him until an ambulance arrived. Witt was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Witt had been booked into the jail on suspicion of drug and paraphernalia possession as well as failure to appear in court.
