BEAR RIVER, Utah (AP) — Kathy Taylor, who inspired singer Sarah McLachlan and many others during her bout with cancer while pregnant with her sixth child, has died at her Utah home.

Her family says she died at the age of 34 in Bear River on Wednesday, four months after she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of melanoma when she was 26 weeks pregnant.

Taylor did what she could to keep the pregnancy going and gave birth Sept. 11 to son Luke, who weighed 1 pound, 15 ounces. He died a couple of weeks later.

Throughout her struggle with cancer, Taylor and her husband, Nate, blogged about her experience at Kathysmiracle.com.

McLachlan helped raise funds to cover her medical expenses, calling Kathy Taylor “a story of strength and courage.”

A public viewing will be held at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home in Tremonton from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, and the Bear River Chapel for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The memorial service will begin at noon.
