A southern Cajun restaurant in North Logan named “MayMoes” opened its doors five weeks ago on 2500 North Main…in the back of a gas station.
David Stock is originally from Louisiana and is one of the regulars at MayMoes.
“It’s a gas station – don’t let that fool you,” Stock said. “Where we’re from, the hole-in-the-wall places are the best places to eat good food.”
Jason Davis is one of the owners and head chef. He said he and his partners are surprised at how fast it is catching on.
“The first week we finished about $50 short,” Davis said. “But, we finished in the thousands last month, ahead of the game so, we’ve never even told the public we’re open.”
Davis is from Louisiana and moved to Cache Valley in February. He is a partner of a burger joint in Pleasant Grove and teaches cooking classes in Logan. He said they’re going to have a grand opening the second weekend in July and looks forward to introducing Cache Valley to something new.
“We’ll probably get into some frog legs, oysters, fish, some things that really taste southern. Not necessarily things that will be on the menu, but stuff people have never tasted. Might get a whole alligator and put it on the grill and just do a whole four foot head of alligator.”
Jamie Sweeten said it’s not just the quality of the food that keeps her coming back.
“You know, it’s a quality place,” Sweeten said. “It’s one of those places and you feel like family. It’s a reasonably priced place that you just want to come back to.”
Davis said he doesn’t meet strangers, everyone is family and friends.
