An aerospace company has announced another round of layoffs affecting its Utah employees.

ATK Space Systems says it’s laying off 150 employees at its facilities in Utah, Mississippi and Ohio.

The company says 90 workers, all from Utah, volunteered to retire. Affected employees were offered severance benefits.

In a statement, ATK said the layoffs stemmed from cutbacks in funding for some programs, ongoing consolidation and reorganization, and changes in the business climate.

ATK in Utah has been hit hard since 2009 because of the demise of the space shuttle program.

It was the prime contractor for booster motors to launch the space shuttle, and had laid off more than 2,100 employees by early 2012, nearly half its shuttle-era workforce of 4,500.
