LOGAN — The Cache County Sheriff’s Office says alcohol was a cause in Thursday night’s crash in Millville that sent three people to the hospital, one in extremely serious condition.

Lt. Mike Peterson said Alvin Henson was arrested and booked into the Cache County Jail after being treated at Logan Regional Hospital. The 40-year-old Millville man is being held on charges of driving under the influence, a second-degree felony and two class B misdemeanors.

Peterson said Henson was driving a 1993 Dodge Dakota pickup east on 200 South with 29-year-old Brian Schofield of Logan. The truck crossed into the westbound lane, striking a 1999 Cadillac DeVille driven by 51-year-old Clay Wilker.

Witnesses told investigators that Henson was driving very erratically and lost control of his vehicle. When deputies arrived on the scene they recognized evidence of alcohol use by both Henson and Schofield.

A 67-year-old motorcyclist was also seriously injured in the accident. Peterson said Randolph Wirth was driving a 1978 Suzuki motorcycle and was struck in the accident.

Wirth was transported to Logan Regional Hospital by ambulance and then transported by helicopter to McKay Dee Hospital where he has been listed in extremely serious condition. Henson and Schofield were also taken to Logan Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Peterson said the accident is still under investigation and more charges may be filed.
