LOGAN – On Saturday, Utah State University will celebrate the 50 year history of the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, spotlight and recognize Wayne Estes who passed away 55 years ago to the day, celebrate and reflect on the life and career of former men’s basketball coach and athletic director Ladell Anderson, and celebrate four conference championship teams: 1979-80, 1994-95, 1999-2000 and 2009-10. Tributes to Estes and Anderson will occur before USU takes on Boise State. The four championship teams returning to the Spectrum will be recognized during halftime.
It is also possible that Sam Merrill could eclipse the 2,000 point mark for his career at USU. He is 21 points away from having scored 2,000 points in his career, and 22 points away from tying Wayne Estes for 3rd all time.
Over the past week, we’ve been privileged to interview former Aggie basketball legends and reflect on their time at Utah State, how they contributed to special USU seasons, and how the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum was a special place to play a game.
