BOISE, Idaho (AP) – The size of a lawsuit against the Boy Scouts of America and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has doubled.

On Tuesday, attorneys for the plaintiffs announced that four more alleged victims have joined a federal lawsuit initially filed in June. The original plaintiffs – all anonymous – claim they were sexually abused while attending scouting functions in Idaho.

The new plaintiffs allege both organizations covered up the sexual abuse and allowed known pedophiles to remain in leadership positions. They claim the abuse occurred during the 1970s and 1980s.

In court papers, attorneys for the Boy Scouts and Mormon church deny any wrongdoing or responsibility.

At a press conference Tuesday, new plaintiff John Elliot – the only one identified – said he hopes other victims will step forward.
